Gulf Coast Community Foundation Interiors

COMMERCIAL INTERIORS: Venice, Florida

The Gulf Coast Community Foundation wanted a modern, sustainable workplace that meets the organization’s present and future needs, values and aspirations. The Community Foundation’s offices are remodeled from a former bank building at 601 Tamiami Trail South, Venice, Florida. The building is a single story block construction with approximately 11,765 SF under roof.

The existing building is a single story with masonry bearing walls, steel and wood truss roof structures, and clay tile roofing. The footprint of the building remained essentially unchanged as part of the renovation and rehabilitation, and the existing roof was preserved. The interior of the building was completely gutted as part of the renovation. A primary architectural challenge of this project was resolving the unique decagon (10 sided) geometry of the existing vaulted roof structure, in relation to the renovation floor plan.

The completed project transformed the existing building into a new, light-filled, contemporary headquarters for the foundation. The subtle exterior changes demonstrate the foundation’s restraint and stewardship of their charitable funds. The dramatic interior changes serve as a testament to their progressive and forward-thinking mission.
