Originally from Pleven, Bulgaria, Lidiya completed her undergraduate studies at St. Petersburg Community College in Florida and then went on to achieve a master’s degree in Architecture from the University of South Florida in Tampa.
A course called “The Care of Making” taught by Steve Cooke at USF deeply influenced the way Lidiya thinks about architecture. With a belief in an empathetic and humanistic approach to design, style is the outermost layer for Lidiya. Though her designs are informed by client needs, budget, and code regulations, her inspiration comes from the human condition and how a great project is aware of its time and place. Whether it is discovering new materials, tectonic expressions through the act of making, or learning from vernacular empirical ways of building, Lidiya strives to get to the heart of each project.
Lidiya currently lives in Clearwater, FL with her husband and children. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, bike rides, tasting local beer and cuisines, practicing yoga, and reading.
